Highly Recommended: Alternative Education Conference in Portland, Oregon

After five years, the Alternative Education Resource Organization (AERO) is finally bringing their annual conference back to the US West Cost at Portland, Oregon, August 3-7, 2016. Sign up right away if interested. There is not much time left.

As one who attended the conference the last time it came to Portland, I can attest that it was a wonderfully moving experience.

The keynote speakers will be:

Yong Zhao, Presidential Chair and Director of the Institute for Global and Online Education in the College of Education, University of Oregon, and also a Professor in the Department of Educational Measurement, Policy, and Leadership at the same institution.

His numerous books about education include:

  • Counting What Counts: Reframing Education Outcomes
  • The Take-Action Guide to World Class Learners, Books 1-3
  • Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Dragon?: Why China Has the Best (and Worst) Education System in the World

and many more.

Peter Gray, Ph.D., an expert on unschooling and play, who is a research professor at Boston College and the author of the books, Free to learn and Psychology.

Stuart Grauer, Ed.D., founder and head of the Grauer School in San Diego and author of Fearless Teaching.
