SF Bay Area Educational Options Expo 10/4 Saturday!

Category: Alternative Education,LearningAdmin @ 6:25 am

Find out what educational alternative options exist around the San Francisco Bay Area on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

Did you know that a democratic school where children make their own educational decisions, modeled after the Sudbury Valley School in Massachusetts, is in Concord, California? And that it started 17 years ago? It’s the Diablo Valley School. I visited for a full day and found the children and teachers there to be among the most self-confident, kind and thoughtful people I have ever met. Apparently the public transit works well for them; they draw from a far distance. (I’d be there a lot more myself if it wasn’t a four-hour round trip for me.)

They and other, equally interesting exhibitors will be there:

  • Beach High School, Soquel, CA
  • Academic Antics, San Jose, CA
  • Imagination School, Campbell, CA
  • Holden High School, Orinda, CA
  • Casa di Mir Montessori, Campbell, CA
  • Diablo Valley School, Concord, CA
  • Mulberry School, Los Gatos, CA
  • Uncollege, San Francisco, CA
  • Rainbow of Knowledge School, Los Gatos, CA
  • Abrome, Austin, TX
  • Joyous Family Consulting, Redwood City, CA
  • Tuition Solutions by GPF, San Jose, CA
  • Palersize, Redwood City, CA
  • Silicon Valley Flex Academy, Morgan Hill, CA

In addition, these fine people will be there to answer your questions:

  • Forbes Magazine’s “30 Under 30” – Dale J. Stephens
  • Montessori School Founder – Wanda Whitehead
  • Homeschool Co-Op Founders – Jere & Crissi Allen
  • Nontraditional High School Founder – Wes Beach
  • Online Learning Community CEO – Antonio Buehler
  • Family Coach/Consultant CEO – Connie Allen

I wish I could go, but I’m still in Florida. If you get to attend, I’d love to hear what you found out!
